Scope of GNM Nursing Course in India

GNM stands for General Nursing and Midwifery and has a huge scope in India. The academic program is typically 3.5 years including internship. Nursing focuses on care, treatment and rehabilitation of patients. Nurses possess knowledge about patient care and medicines and are trained to assist doctors in supervised or independent setups.

According to Indian Nursing Council guidance, 10+2 (preferably Science with Biology/PCB) students are most preferred. Students from Arts background may also be eligible as per applicable rules.

Career opportunities in nursing are strong in India and abroad due to continuous demand for healthcare professionals. Hospitals, clinics, NGOs and public health centers require nursing staff, and the demand is expected to remain high in coming years.
